University of Manchester – Politics

University of Manchester – Politics
A large academic grouping of political science in the UK

The Department of Politics at the University of Manchester is one of the oldest and strongest groupings of political science in the UK. Founded in 1949, till October 2004 it was named Department of Government. Given its size, this department is able to cover a wide range of research interests, from international politics to political theory, from public policy to European, British and U.S. politics. The department’s website offers various undergraduate and graduate programs, and aims at providing a comprehensive set of information about the department’s activites and research interests. Access to journals, working papers and other research material very pertinent to political studies worldwide is also available. This website with its full-text materials is freely accessible and browsable by anyone. It also allows for searching and downloading from a very large number of working papers, usually in pdf format. Direct links to the official department publications such as Government and Opposition, Party Politics, Representation, New Political Economy and the leading UK politics journal, Political Studies, are available mostly providing table of contents and abstracts. A simple search feature and an effective overall structure allow for easy orientation.
